RIGA NEIGHBORHOODS ORIENTEERING CUP 2024
RAOK 2024 took place this year for the first time, inviting not only neighborhood association activists and athletes to participate, but also young people, families, and other interested parties. The competitions took place free of charge in five different Riga neighborhoods, allowing participants to get to know Riga’s neighborhoods from a completely different perspective.
"It was a colorful journey - we let loose in Sarkandaugava, chilled out in Iļģuciems, poured our strength down from Grīziņkalns, carved runes into the stones of Bieriņi, and harvested the season’s yield in Dārziņi. The neighborhood orienteering season is now over..." with these words one of the 300 participants describes the Riga Neighborhoods Orienteering Cup (RAOK).
The RAOK finale took place immediately after the 5th stage in Dārziņi, where not only the TOP3 teams of each group in each stage were awarded, but also the overall winners.
The overall standings counted only those teams that participated in at least
3 stages with an identical team name, without changing the participant group.
Congratulations to the overall season laureates - in the individual group, the cup was won by the team “Teku Taku”, followed by “KM BUILDING” and finally “Atis Kalniņš”. In the open group, the boys from the team “Mirāža” climbed to the top step, followed by “Ādaži City”, and the honorable 3rd place was taken by the team “Spalvainās pēdas”. In the junior category, competition for prizes was not large; the cup was won by the team “ER”. In the family group, the clear first place in the stages as well went to the team “Vēl nav, bet bus”, second “Kundziņi no salas”, third – “ZUMM”. In the most experienced participants’ category, the most successful strategy turned out to be for the team “Fell the motion”, followed by “DaVaGuči” and finally “Skudrulāči”.
