FREEDOM ROGAINING 2026
In honor of ourselves, Latvia, and freedom, the traditional Latvian Rogaining Cup competition “Freedom Rogaining” has returned to the orienteering events calendar after a year’s break. On November 21, dozens of rogainers will have the opportunity to get to know Tukums Municipality more closely—specifically, the charm of Zentene Parish and its hidden forest trails.
Although “Freedom Rogaining” has traditionally taken place during Latvia’s national holiday week, between November 11 and 17, this year’s date has been set a little later to avoid overlapping with other rogaining competitions. Registration is already open and will remain available until midnight on November 15. The forests of Zentene promise varied terrain, where young and old forest stands alternate with open and semi-open areas. Participants will also have a chance to see bodies of water such as Lake Dzirciems, Vaskaris, Lake Rindzele, and even the overgrown Ķilmji Bog.
K-PUNKTS representative Elīna comments: “We are truly honored to take over the organization of this patriotic event, especially since November has always been a festive month in our own homes, too. We are genuinely striving to match the standard set by the experienced organizers at COK “Silva”, taking care not only to provide a high-quality map and challenging control-point planning, but also to create a great atmosphere at the event center and offer a generous selection of prizes. Incidentally, prizes will be available not only to the fastest and most strategically astute participants, but to everyone through a prize draw!
Also worth highlighting is the special four-hour Freedom Rogaining course, in which Latvian municipalities will compete against one another. Teams may include municipal leaders, council members, administrative and institutional staff, municipal residents, and property owners. The municipality that earns the most points overall will receive the traveling trophy and, who knows, perhaps even the honor of hosting guests at Freedom Rogaining 2027.
