WHAT IS A K-POINT?
K-POINT (in English k-point [keɪ pɔɪnt]), or a checkpoint, is an integral part of the distance to be completed. In rogaining, other types of orienteering competitions, and long-distance hikes, a checkpoint serves as a reference stop that makes it psychologically easier to overcome the challenge. It is an opportunity to complete a portion of the journey, catch your breath, and look ahead to the remaining distance. It is no coincidence that to reach a goal, the path must be divided into several parts, for which checkpoints serve perfectly.
Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.
