Shortly before the beautiful Midsummer celebrations, on June 20 the start will be given to a hike organized by the association K-PUNKTS. The goal of the hiking enthusiasts will be to walk 50 kilometers within 13 hours or complete a 100-kilometer distance within 26 hours. The route will lead participants through the parishes of Vecumnieki, Iecava and Stelpe in Bauska Municipality, allowing them to enjoy not only the beautiful summer weather and the charm of the forest, but also to rest and regain strength at the checkpoints set up by the organizers.
The aim of the event is to promote active recreation in nature, as well as to challenge participants to test the limits of their abilities. Participants will be able to get to know the beautiful natural landscapes of Bauska Municipality and enjoy local hospitality at the checkpoints.
The start of the hike this year is planned at the guest house “Satekas”, and participants will cover the distance by visiting places such as the Iecava Cultural Center and the building of the former Stelpe Primary School. At the three checkpoints planned by the organizers, participants will have the opportunity to replenish their reserves of energy, food and drink, receive medical assistance and other support from volunteers. Hiking enthusiasts can also expect unique commemorative prizes at the start, along the route, and at the finish.
