100 Kilometer Hike K-100 2025

On the morning of November 17, 92 brave participants lined up at the starting line — ready to test the limits of their abilities in honor of themselves, the Latvian state, and its freedom.

Continuing the tradition, in 2025 the second 100-kilometer hike “K-100” took place. This time, we met with participants in Salaspils, near the Salaspils Sports Hall.

The 100 km long route led through the center of Salaspils towards Kauguri, where volunteers awaited participants at the second checkpoint — the former Kangari railway station. From there, the path tested participants’ endurance along the long Ērgļi railway line, after which the route led to the Suntaži Parish Cultural Center (CP3), where participants could regain strength with warm soup and the help of volunteers. To reach the fourth checkpoint, participants had to overcome a dark stretch through the forests of Ogre, where at the Ogre Youth Center they were welcomed by a helpful doctor’s hand and support to prepare for the final stage — the route along the winding bends of the Daugava River, returning to the finish location at the Salaspils Sports Hall.

Between 51 km and 79 km, the largest number of participants withdrew — a significant distance had already been covered, darkness had set in, and in addition, unfavorable weather conditions appeared — snow, rain, and wind. Despite this, we are incredibly happy and proud of every single participant — this is a courageous challenge for oneself!

The tradition continues in terms of results as well. In the 2024 hike, the fastest finisher reached the finish line after 14 hours and 14 minutes. Although the hike is still not organized as a competition, in 2025 the first participant also reached the finish very quickly — Agnese Poikāne completed the distance in 13 hours and 50 minutes.
Exactly two hours later, she was followed by the men — Gundars Zadovskis, Vairis Krauklis, and Mihails Kohanovičs.

Out of the 92 brave participants, 63 completed the full 100 km! Through snow and wind, the final finishers returned to the Salaspils Sports Hall after 25 hours and 48 minutes.
The main goal of the 100 km hike is to promote active recreation in nature, as well as to challenge participants to test the limits of their abilities in honor of themselves, the Latvian state, and its freedom for more than 100 years.
