LATVIAN ORIENTEERING NIGHT
On the evening of September 19, for the first time in Mārupe, an orienteering event for all fitness levels took place – Latvian Orienteering Night 2025.
A total of 403 participants – 131 teams – registered for Orienteering Night in Mārupe, with the start at the Mārupe Municipality Sports School.
Active leisure enthusiasts could take part in the competition in the following participant groups:
● Open – no age limit, at least one adult (18+);
● Women – no age limit, at least one adult (18+);
● Families – at least one child up to 14 years of age and at least one adult (from 18 years of age) in the team;
● Veterans – all aged over 55.
Orienteering Night in Mārupe challenged participants with a complex urban environment – dead ends, fences, ditches and the Mārupe stream, which required both precise planning and good orienteering skills. The routes led past important local landmarks – from the historic Rautenfeld Manor Park to the modern “Business Garden Riga”, and the bravest could also pass through the Bieriņi bog.
For the first time, Orienteering Night could also be watched live online—interested viewers could follow the progress of the competition, various interviews, and the most important moments. You can also watch all of this now – on the LOF YouTube account
The best participants in each group were awarded medals, and all participants were invited to stay and take part in a lottery with prizes donated by the event’s sponsors.
Thank you for the cooperation to the Latvian Orienteering Federation, Mārupe Municipality, Mārupe Municipality Sports School, and the Mārupe Youth Council M-UP
